THE WORLD IS ON FIRE

a technology inferno is incinerating the status quo

Our country is in grave jeopardy because we are not adequately educating many of our children.

Join the conversation & collaborate to help our children - please respond to the brief survey below !!!

Millions of our children are failing to learn.  Millions feel rejected, become disengaged and seek refuge with gangs, drugs, or violence.  Whole generations of children have no hope of competing for positions at our universities or for skilled jobs in our economy – NO HOPE.

Knowledge is continuing to explode – Robots and AI will disrupt or displace many of today’s jobs.  We must reinvent education – or many-many more will lose hope.

We have many great schools and great dedicated teachers – but our education technology infrastructure is horribly out-dated.  Most of our knowledge is buried in centuries-old technology [paper textbooks].  This ancient technology prevents schools from providing personalized education – it promotes rigid class-wide instruction paths that are usually too fast or too slow for most students.  Implementing America's Digital Education Platform (ADEP) for our schools is essential to:

  • deliver personalized education essential to reach, teach, and retain our increasingly vulnerable students
  • enable education materials, teachers, and students to keep pace with the exploding level of world knowledge and complexity
  • create an effective education ecosystem that removes logistical hurdles, resource limitations, and disruptions, while enabling  educators and students to concentrate on knowledge development and learning

A Digital Education Platform will dramatically reduce time teachers spend presenting material and increase time for coaching students and teams.  It will empower teachers to assess & assist student progress much more efficiently and to teach much-much more.  If a student falls behind, the student will have a clear, personalized path and tools to recover, to stay engaged, and to SUCCEED

A Digital Education Platform will engage students and parents, it will facilitate a powerful Active Learning Paradigm, unlock and expand curriculum into many more areas, and provide essential tools to support early childhood development and solve major issues that cause students to disengage and fail.

But we cannot cross this chasm in multiple leaps.
WE MUST HAVE A NATIONAL MOONSHOT.

We must have all states join with our educators and leading technology companies to design a platform - which our schools and teachers manage - to carry us into the next century.

Let the journey begin with the first step - let's start the conversation - listening to each other and collaborating, building consensus on how we must change to improve our public education system.

In the Survey below, please indicate whether you agree or disagree with these Top 10 Priorities.

Then, if you would like - go to the Comments Page and share additional thoughts and ideas on these 10 priorities; and go to ADEP to help shape plans for our Digital Education Platform.  We will combine and distill the feedback and invite you to continue collaborating to build a consensus plan of action to help our children and our country.

If you are willing join the conversation - certainly our leading technology companies and educators will follow !!!

SURVEY - TOP TEN EDUCATIONAL PRIORITIES:

Do you agree or disagree - are these our Top 10 Priorities?

1. DIGITAL EDUCATIONAL PLATFORM - Schools should unite to create a comprehensive secure, adaptable ecosystem of peer-reviewed electronic instructional material and AI education applications to replace textbooks. This platform should provide personalized education for all students and empower teachers to dramatically increase the pace of learning and student engagement. Standardized electronic tablets and secure interfaces for other devices should also be provided.

Standardized electronic tablets and secure interfaces for other devices should also be provided.
2. ACTIVE LEARNING PARADIGM - With virtually instant access to world knowledge (see #1), an Active Learning Paradigm should be emphasized to teach students to perform effective research with modern technology tools, synthesize information using relevant, logical, scientific, creative, and collaborative techniques; and to persuasively and confidently present findings and recommendations to classmates and teachers. This approach should also significantly increase student engagement and develop essential critical thinking, collaboration and, communication skills.

This approach should also significantly increase student engagement and develop essential critical thinking, collaboration and, communication skills.
3. CURRICULUM - School curriculums should be substantially broadened to enable students to learn key concepts and principals in many more areas and to effectively navigate an increasingly complex world. This much broader curriculum, combined with the Digital Education Platform and Active Learning Paradigm above will enable students can spend more time learning, understanding, and actively applying concepts and less time memorizing data and limited perspectives from textbook authors.

4. CLASSROOMS - Classroom audio/video should be used to interact and collaborate with experts, guest speakers and other classes throughout the world and with students who may be ill at home. The video technology can also assist teachers with resolving conflicts, disruptions and other classroom management issues; and serve as a tool to continuously refine instruction methodology and student development.

5. EARLY CHILDHOOD DEVELOPMENT - An Expectant and New Parent education curriculum and credentialing program should be created to provide information on early childhood development best practices and resources. Annual (school-based) childhood development review sessions should be provided for parents and children at ages 1 through 5. Model guidelines should be developed for creating and managing (public and charter) school-based daycare facilities, including recruiting, training, and evaluating caregivers. Expanded reliable, efficient, and economic daycare should be provided that incorporates early-childhood development best practices. An AI inter-active speaking teddy bear and tablet to provide brain stimulation and speech development should be made available for infants and toddlers who do not otherwise receive such stimulation during their routine daily care.

6. LEARNING READINESS - A daily on-line learning readiness survey should be obtained from students to assess their sleep adequacy, nutrition, illness, stress, and other concerns. Resources and assistance should be provided for relaxation, concentration, and focus. Teacher observations should be documented and, periodic, comprehensive analysis of the data and trends should be performed to identify educational improvement opportunities.

7. STUDENTS - A student honor code and classroom conduct policy should be implemented and directly supported by ongoing curriculum in Humanity, Ethics, Brain Science and Personal Development. An annual honor and trust assessment should be performed with each student and individualized professional student counseling and course-work provided to address honor and trust issues. Key data should be logged for automated correlation with student success and continuing reevaluation of education improvement opportunities. Strong mentoring, social service resources, and mental health counseling programs should be available. Alternative educational resource options should be made available for all students, including a career options with trade-skills education, work-study programs, and apprenticeships.
